We’re here with our weekly round-up of the top social media news stories from the week. We summarise the latest social updates in quick snippets so that you can stay up-to-date with all things social.
Our top story this week is that music may be coming to Instagram Stories. As Stories continue to rocket in both popularity and importance in terms of boosting your organic reach, Music Stickers have been spotted in Instagram’s code. The feature would allow you to search for music clips to play over your Stories. We’d love this feature to help make our Stories even more engaging, so fingers crossed that it rolls out soon. Hootsuite now supports Pinterest. For those of you who are looking to make Pinterest an even more important part of your marketing strategies, Hootsuite have now announced Pinterest integration, enabling Pinterest publishing and scheduling! Time is of the essence when you’re a small business, so we love this update. (via Globe News Wire).
Instagram’s making it easier for small businesses to spot DMs. The social platform is introducing direct messaging tools which will help shops to spot and answer messages more quickly. There’s the option to filter or star conversations, as well as see important messages in your main business inbox rather than within a pending folder. It’s challenging to keep on top of community management, so every handy update like this helps. (via Engadget).
YouTube’s rolling out new ‘take a break’ options. In a bid to help us balance tech and life, YouTube will show a notification once you’ve spent a set amount of consecutive viewing time. In an age where we’re all constantly glued to social media, it’s great that YouTube are trying to protect our wellbeing. (via The Verge).
You can now book holidays through Instagram. We’re excited to learn that Instagram are introducing new action buttons enabling users to book holidays and make reservations directly through the app. So now when you spot a photo of a dream location, you can book it without any hesitation.
