Our top story this week is that Instagram is rumoured to be building a standalone shopping app. Rumour has it that IG Shopping is on the way. This could prove huge for businesses who are having success with mobile shopping and the current Instagram Shop. We just worry that maybe Team Instagram are spreading themselves a little too thin? Twitter is testing a MAJOR desktop redesign: Perhaps in a bid to attract back some of its youths, this update is everything that Instagram Stories’ users dream about, as it only allows users with 10,000+ followers to do so. Would it really sway you from Insta Stories to Facebook’s, though? (via Business Insider UK).
PInterest say Brits are craving ‘me-time’. According to a consumer study carried out by Pinterest, based upon what people in Britain are pinning, we Brits are focused on our ‘me-time’ post-summer. It is being called ‘back-to-life’ with September being the new January, with 43% of us focusing on decluttering our homes. (me included! – Stef) (via netimperative).
YouTube Giving is helping charities raise money. YouTube is now introducing several “Giving” features to help nonprofits, charities, and other communities raise money directly on the video site. (via 9to5Google).
Facebook is stepping up social video viewing. Facebook is capitalising on the fact that we like to discuss shows and videos with our friends, buy making their now-worldwide Facebook Watch more social with Watch parties. Imagine this for binge-watching series, sports or award ceremonies. (via CNBC).
